| The
International Dada Archive at the University of Iowa Libraries is pleased
to announce the availability of its online catalog, the International
Online Bibliography of Dada.
With some
19,000 titles (including nearly 2,000 related to Duchamp), the online
catalog currently includes about thirty percent of the titles in our card
catalog. Grant funding will permit us to continue conversion of the card
catalog to electronic format at a good pace through the end of June 2000.
This is
the culmination of twenty years of bibliographic work at the International
Dada Archive. The Archive was established in 1979 with support from the
National Endowment for the Humanities and the Jerome Foundation. Creation
of the International Online Bibliography of Dada has been made possible
by a University of Iowa Arts and Humanities Initiative Grant, and has
been a collaborative project of Donna Hirst and Timothy Shipe of the University
Libraries and Professor Rudolf E. Kuenzli of the Program in Comparative
Literature.
The bibliography
is currently a database within the University of Iowa Libraries' online
system, OASIS. The University Libraries will be migrating to a web-based
catalog late this summer, at which point the IOBD will become considerably
more web-friendly. In the meantime, you can access the IOBD via a telnet
connection at the following url:
http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/cgi/oasis.cgi
Enter your
terminal type (usually V1), hit "return" to bypass the log-on screen,
enter "1" to get into OASIS, then enter "cho dada" to get into the IOBD.

information, see the web site of the International Dada Archive at http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/dada/index.html.
